Come one, come all, to Emporia Main Street’s annual Artist’s Walk.
Emporia Main Street and The Emporia Arts Council are sponsoring an Artist Walk to take place April 19th, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Artist Walk is an event that brings local artists downtown to showcase their talents.
Come by the Granada Theatre and see the performances under the marquee. Afterwards, you can stop by Sweet Granada and have a sweet treat or sample the Granada Coffee Company’s wonderful drinks and comfortable ambiance.
Emporia Main Street will be pairing artists with downtown businesses. Artists will be on hand to demonstrate their talent and to answer any questions the public may have.

In March of 2008 the scaffolding was taken down. A crew that had expanded to as many as 20 artisans, construction personnel, and designers as well as outside contractors had been working hard. They had labored on the heating and cooling systems, electrical wiring and lighting, sheet rock and painting, and finally, the application and finishing of the ornamental plaster panels and the finishing touches to the coffered ceiling.
The thing that truly dazzles when you walk into the vast auditorium of the Granada is the ceiling and plaster work ornamentation.

The Emporia Granada Theatre Alliance is pleased to name Anna Ryan as the new Executive Director for the Alliance.
The Alliance looks forward to having Anna lead the Alliance into its next stage of becoming a center for arts and entertainment in the Emporia community and the surrounding Flint Hills region.
A native Kansan, Anna is an Emporia State University graduate and has been part of the Emporia community for fifteen years. She, her husband Jim, and children Conner and Brennan, reside in Emporia and have recently returned from a six-month adventure living in London, England. Read the rest of this entry »
On the 13th and 14th of September 2007 we took a major step towards making the Granada complete. We brought in a crane (actually two) and placed three 3300 pound climate control units on the roof of the building. This will make it a lot easier to work on the interiors when it’s cold (or hot) outside. Play the video below for a quick look at the process.
