ABOUT THE GRANADA

– EMPORIA’S COMMUNITY VENUE –

THE EMPORIA GRANADA THEATRE IS A 501(C)3 NONPROFIT BUSINESS AND IS OWNED BY THE GRANADA THEATRE ALLIANCE, INC.

The building was erected in 1929, restored in 2002-2008, and has since been a venue to grow, connect, and enrich the city of Emporia.

The theatre seats 823 people and is used as a venue for weddings, holiday parties, business meetings, concerts, movies, and various other programs. The Granada Theatre has truly become a central landmark in Emporia and continues to give back to the community through its many different events.

OUR MISSION

Our goal is to operate and promote the beautifully restored historic Emporia Granada Theatre as a destination for educational, cultural and social events through diverse programming that enhances and strengthens the community and surrounding areas. We’re committed to modeling diversity and inclusion for the entire arts industry of the nonprofit sector, and to maintaining an inclusive environment with equitable treatment for all.

OUR HISTORY

Built at the tail end of the roaring 20s for the equivalent of $5.3 million in today’s money, the gorgeous Emporia Granada Theatre was nearly lost to fire, rain, and ruin before being rescued and lovingly restored by Emporia citizens.
